UP power employees to launch agitation from July 5

Varanasi, July 4 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh power employees affiliated to Vidyut Mazdoor Sangh (VMS) -- an RSS outfit -- will launch statewide agitation from July 5 in support of various demands, including long pending promotion of employees.

VMS state secretary A P Shukla said here yesterday a decision in this respect was taken at a meeting of the outfit chaired by UP president Ramapati Singh Yadav.

Mr Shukla further said as per the decision VMS members will first stage demonstrations at all zonal offices to be followed by a bigger demonstration at the power deparment headquarters at Shakti Bhawan in Lucknow on July 14.

The demands of the VMS members include long pending promotion of employees, besides abandoning the policy of privatisation of power sector.
