Tendulkar slams 98 as Lashings beat Middleton by 92 runs

London, July 4 (UNI) Sachin Tendulkar proved he has not lost his appetite for runs and struck a masterly 98 as Lashings World XI spanked Middleton Cricket Club by 92 runs in their away match at West Sussex.

Put into bat, Lashings World XI reached a commanding 274 for seven in 40 overs.

Tendulkar top-scored with 98, while former Zimbabwe captain Tatenda Taibu contributed 70 and ex-Pakistan skipper Rashid Latif scored 41 before retiring.

For the hosts, Matt Ellicott (2/44) and Tom Seaman (2/50) claimed two wickets apiece.

Chasing a victory target of 275, Middleton were skittled out for 182 with Bruce Scott top-scoring with 41. Scott sustained a nasty knee injury while batting and was taken to hospital before the end of the game.

Leading Lashings, former West Indies captain Richie Richardson rolled his arms and grabbed three wickets for just nine runs while Proteas Nantie Hayward claimed two for 14.
