Shiva temple burgled

Varanasi, July 4 (UNI) The 'linga', copper snake and brass 'argha' were stolen from a fifty-year-old Shiva temple in Mehmoorganj area here.

Police said criminals late last night entered the temple and decamped with the valuables.

The broken 'linga' was later recovered near a pond in the same area, police added. When the matter came to light, local residents staged a demonstration on the main road.

Investigation was on, police added.
