New Delhi, July 4 (UNI) The Supreme Court today permitted Vikas Yadav, son of former Rajya Sabha member D P Yadav and accused in the Nitish Katara murder case, to withdraw his petition for release on parole.

A bench, comprising Mr Justice K G Balakrishanan and Mr Justice D K Jain, also adjourned till July 21 hearing on the petition filed by Nitish's mother Neelam Katara, seeking cancellation of bail granted to Vishal Yadav, another accused and nephew of D P Yadav, by the Delhi High Court.

Ms Katara has sought cancellation of bail on the grounds that witnesses in the case would not be able to depose fearlessly as the accused has the clout to influence the course of justice.

The trial of the case was transferred to Delhi by the apex court after Ms Katara failed to find a lawyer to represent her in Ghaziabad court allegedly due to fear of D P Yadav.

Vikas Yadav had earlier sought his release on parole as his mother was to undergo an operation.

The court had ordered the appearance of Bharti Yadav, daughter of D P Yadav, who is in London and a key prosecution witness in the case.

Nitish was allegedly involved with Bharti.
