Prof Suresh Tendulkar to head National Statistical Commission
New Delhi, July 4 (UNI) The Government today announced the appointment of noted economist Prof Suresh Tendulkar to head the newly set-up National Statistical Commission.
Prof Tendulkar will be the Chairman of the Commission which is the nodal body of all core statistical activities of the country.
He will be assisted by four members of the Commission, namely Dr Surjit S Bhalla, Prof Amitabh Kundu, Prof Bikash Sinha and Dr Padam Singh.
Set up through a resolution in September 2005, the Commission consists of a part-time Chairman holding the status of a Minister of State and four part-time members of the status of Secretary to the Government of India. It will be assisted by a full time Secretariat and will have its headquarters here.
