Plans to start mono rail in Jaipur

Jaipur, July 4 (UNI) Plans are afoot to start a mono rail here to ease the increasing traffic congestion in the city.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, while announcing this at Long Island, New York, yesterday said the RUIDP was preparing a detailed report of the project expected to be completed this mongh.

If the project report was cleared, there were chances of mono rail being started in the state capital soon.

According to sources, Mrs Raje said the proposed rail route would be from the railway station to Ajmeri Gate and from Ajmeri Gate to Airport. The mono rail would run on a track constructed on pillars.

Mrs Raje said there were plans to start a metro rail initially but the feasibility report did not permit so.
