Hyderabad, Jul 4 (UNI) The National Federation of Indian Railwaymen (NFIR) General Secretary M Raghavaiah today urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to issue an official notification for setting up of sixth Pay Commmission for Central government employees.

In a letter to the Prime Minister, a copy of which was released to the press here, he requested him to announce interim relief along with the notification.

He pointed out that in the past when the Pay Commission was set up, interim relief used to be granted simultaneously to reduce the gap to some extent between the wages of Central Government employees and other public sectors.

During the negotiations held between the staff of Joint Consultative Machinery and government officials, the staff sought grant of interim relief. This would be conveyed to the Union Government for taking a decision, he added.

He said the wages of Central Government employees were far below as compared to public sector organisations like Banks, LIC and Coal sector.

He said the grant of interim relief along with the notification for constitution of sixth pay commission would provide satisfaction to the central government employees.
