Nepal PM Koirala's health stable, takes oath from hospital

Kathmandu, July 4 (UNI) The health of Nepal Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala, who has been admitted to a local hospital is improving.

The hospital source said Mr Koirala's condition is stable and he needs to take rest for another two days. Prime Minister talked with his family members this afternoon and is still is in Intensive care Unit (ICU).

According to Dr Madhu Ghimire, Koirals's personal physician, some traces of pneumonia is seen in Koirala's right lung and needs extra attention.

Doctor J Pandey from India had arrived Kathmandu this afternoon to examine Koirala.

Meanwhile, Mr Koirala took the oath of office and secrecy for the post of Prime Minister and Member of Parliament from the hospital bed this morning. He signed the paper bearing the oath at around 0900 hrs in presence of Speaker of the House, Subash Newang.

Prime Minister and council of Minister were supposed to take oath last week but was postponed due to Koirals's health. Members of Council of Minister also took oath in the parliament today.

The Parliament on May 28 had cancelled the provision of taking oath in presence of King by the Prime Minister, Council of Minister, members of parliament (MPs) and other high ranking Government officials. The MPs of both lower and upper house took the oath in Parliament last week.
