Lodha, six others issued summons

Kolkata, Jul 04 (UNI) A city court today issued summons to Birla Corporation auditor Rajendra Singh Lodha and six others on a criminal proceeding filed by the Birlas.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jaladhar Mondal heard the petition at length filed by the Birlas, alleging that two computers, a revolving chair and two steel racks were missing from Rameshwar Jute Mills which was once run by M P Birla's widow Priyamvada.

Mr Basant Kumar Birla took over the charge of the company in September 2005 .

The Birlas and the Lodhas were locked in a bitter legal battle after Mr Lodha disclosed that he had been bequeathed the M P Birla empire by Priyamvada Birla.

A number of cases involving the Birlas and the Lodhas have been pending before the courts relating to Priyamvada's will of 1999 by which Mr Lodha claimed to inherit the Rs 500 crore M P Birla empire.
