Landslide cuts off road to temple town
Mangalore, July 4 (UNI) The road linking the temple town of Subramanya from Puttur in Dakshina Kannada district of Karnataka has been cut-off from the rest of the district since yesterday, following a landslide at Balpa on Puttur-Panja-Subramanya road.
According to official sources, traffic could be restored on the road only after ten days.
Meanwhile, the Kumaradhara bridge near Subramanya, which was submerged in rain water since Sunday last, was opened for vehicular traffic last evening.
Severe sea erosion continued in Ullal, Udyavara-Paduker, Kadekar and Kidiyur. However, no loss of property was reported today, the officials said.
There was some let up in the heavy rainfall since yesterday, with Bantwal receiving 5 cm rain, followed by Belthangady and Sullya 4 cm each.
