K'taka HC issues notice to Bangalore Urban DC

Bangalore, July 4 (UNI) The Karnataka High Court today ordered issuance of notices to the Bangalore Urban Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner (North) Tahsildar and T Dasarahalli City Municipal Corporation Commissioner on a public interest litigation against unauthorised and illegal quarrying in Government land.

Mr Justices B Padmaraj and Syed Abdul Nazeer issued notices to the three officials and others on a PIL filed by the residents of Mallasandra village in T Dasarahalli on the outskirts of the city.

The petitioners contended that some of the respondents had trespassed into the Government land in the village and were carrying on illegal and unauthorised quarrying and other activities. The authorities had not taken any steps against the same to protect valuable Government property, despite repeated representations and complaints by the public.

They sought for a direction to the authorities to evict the encroachers and trespassers and protect the public property.
