Kerala HC notice to TDB, Govt. on Sabarimala controversy
Kochi, July 4 (UNI) The Kerala High Court today issued notice to the Travancore Devaswom Board, Devaswom Special Commissioner and the state government on a writ petition seeking an ''appropriate inquiry'' into the controversy regarding Kannada actress Jayamala's alleged entry into the Sabarimala temple.
A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice V K Bali and Justice M Ramachandran issued notice against Jayamala and Edappal Unnikrishna Panicker, the astrologer who conducted the ''devaprasnam'' at the temple.
The court directed the board to file an affidavit incorporating the details of the expenses incurred for the ''devaprasnam'' held from June 16 to 19.
In the writ petition filed by Jayakumar of Edakkattuvayal, a devotee of Sabarimala temple, a direction was also sought to review the ''ashtamangalya devaprasnam'' already conducted and for a fresh ''devaprasnam'' to be held.
