INSAT-4C ready for launch: ISRO Chief

Bangalore, July 4 (UNI) Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has completed all preparation for the launch of INSAT-4C which will be put into orbit by Geo-synchronous Satellite Vehicle-5 (GSLV) from Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota on between during the launch window between July 10 and 15.

ISRO Chairman N Madhavan Nair today told newsmen on the sidelines of a industry meet on satellite navigation ''We have moved the vehicle to the launch pad. Except for weather conditions, we are on time for the launch on schedule''.

Launch of the satellite from the home grown rocket would cut the launch cost by more than 30 per cent, he said.

The launch of this satelite, the second in the Insat 4 series, was seen as a big boost to the Direct-to-home operators. This is the first time ISRO was putting into orbit a two-tonne class satellite.

INSAT 4C is equipped with 12 KU band transponders and is designed to mission life of ten years.
