Heroin worth Rs 4 crore seized from Canadian NRI woman
Chandigarh, July 4 (UNI) The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has seized four kg heroin, worth Rs four crore in the international market, from a non-resident Indian (NRI) woman settled in Canada near here last night.
The accused woman, Paramjit Kaur, on way to Delhi to board a flight to Canada, was caught with an accomplice after a short chase near Zirakpur here, NCB Zonal Director (North) Srikant Yadav told reporters here.
She was arrested along with a Jalandhar-based man Rajwinder Singh.
Mr Yadav said the NCB zeroed on the duo after getting information that a woman was to carry the contraband to Canada through the Air Canada flight last night.
''The woman, who was being used as a carrier by the kingpins in Canada and Punjab, was aware of what she was doing'' the NCB official said.
