Girls school under scanner over sexual exploitation
Hoshangabad, MP, July 4 : A girls school at Sohagpur in this district has come under the scanner after reports of sexual exploitation of its hostel inmates surfaced, official source said today.
District harassment monitoring committee Chairman and Deputy Collector Manjusha Rai conducted a raid at the hostel of Girls School run by Quakers Missionary based on an anonymous complaint letter.
According to sources, the hostel's environment was being polluted by some employees and those residing at the hostel unauthorisedly. A inquiry report has been sent to senior officials.
The school has 700 students with 100 girls residing at the hostel. The school was set up in 1875.
Ms Rai said complaints regarding sexual exploitation were found true.
MP State Women Commission (MPSCW) member Rajo Malviya said reports regarding sexual exploitation were received and necessary direction issued.
School Principal Sheela Jacob told UNI that some youths, staying unauthorisedly with retired employees and two lady teachers, were trying to malign the school.
She alleged that the MPSWC was listening to these people and the inquiry officer was adopting one-sided approach.
