Denmark reopens mission to Pakistan

COPENHAGEN, July 4 (Reuters) Denmark reopened its embassy in Pakistan, five months after it was closed following violent protests worldwide by Muslims after a Danish newspaper published cartoons of the Prophet Mohammad.

The Danish foreign ministry said the embassy in Islamabad was yesterday opened to the public again.

The Danish missions to Tehran, Damascus, Djakarta and Beirut were also closed during the peak of the cartoon crisis in January and February, but have all since reopened.

In February, Pakistan police had to fire tear gas and rubber bullets to break up a protests against Denmark in Islamabad.
