Deep depression to bring copious rains to AP
Hyderabad, Jul 4 (UNI) With yesterday's deep depression over Orissa moving west-northwestwards and lay centred today over Chhattisgarh, close to Raipur, Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh will experience increased rainfall activity for two days from tomorrow.
''As the system is likely to move in west-northwestwards, heavy to very heavy falls are likely at a few places over Telangana for next 1-2 days,'' Hyderabad Meteorological Centre Director Satya Kumar told UNI Isolated extremely heavy falls of more than 25 cm might occur in the region, he said, adding that the state capital would witness intermittent rain or thundershowers.
Southwest monsoon was active over Telangana during the last 24 hours. Rain occurred at a few places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh while dry weather prevailed in Rayalaseema.
Asifabad in Adilabad dist recorded a rainfall of 19 cm, followed by Sirpur 17 Adilabad 12, Kaleswaram 10, Utnoor 8, Boath and Luxettipet 5 each, Khanapur and Mancherial Paderu, Sompeta 4 each and Ramagundam, Perur and Venkatapuram 3 each.
