Cong rejects objections to Broadcasting Bill
New Delhi, July 4 (UNI) The Congress today said that all reactions an the Broadcasting Regulation Bill are premature and speculative as it is just a proposal which has neither been adopted by Parliament nor considered by the Union Cabinet.
Ninety per cent of the provisions in the Bill are already there in some way or the other in the existing law and there is nothing objectionable in the Bill, Congress Spokesman Abhishek Singhvi said.
He told reporters that this kind of Bill is necessary in all the developing countries."Cross holding in monopoly fashion is not allowed in any country." Mr Singhvi termed as overreaction, the protests being lodged against the Bill in some quarters and said positive changes will be effected in the Bill.
