Case withdrawal generates hope among killers
Dubai, July 4 (UNI) The decision of an Indian family to withdraw the case against the killers of their son sparked hope of release from prison of three accused serving life sentences.
Kandres Zabel, then 36, was killed in 1993 at a juice factory in Dubai by a gang after gagging him with a masking tape and strangulating with a cable.
The prime accused Atta Alah, who was executed by a firing squad in 1997, had cut the victim's wrists and stole Dhs72,000 and escaped.
The other three hope for their release from prison under a new law, which says if a murder victim's family withdraw the case, the accused could appeal for a reduced sentence.
