Betel vine in 895 acres in K'taka damaged by yellow disease
Bangalore, July 4 (UNI) Karnataka Fisheries Minister B Nagaraj Shetty today informed the Legislative Council that betel vine grown in an area of 895 acres has been damaged due to incidence of yellow disease in the districts of Bagalkot, Bijapur and Bangalore Rural.
Replying to a query raised by Mr K C Kondaiah during question hour, the Minister, on behalf of the Horticulture Minister, said the loss in terms of value would be estimated after conducting a survey of the crops.
The Government had taken measures to control the pests and disease and the farmers have been advised to treat the vines as per the recommendations of scientists, the Minister said.
Earlier, Mr Kondaiah sought to know whether the disease in several districts had been brought to the notice of the Government.
