Amanjyot takes lead in Sunfeast Northern India Junior Golf

New Delhi, July 4 (UNI) Jaipur's Amanjyot Singh carded a two-under 70 to take the honours in the senior Category 'A' of the Sunfeast Northern India Junior/Sub-junior Golf Championship which began here today.

Rahul Bakshi was a solitary stroke behind the leader at 71, while Vicky Sharma was placed third at 73.

In the Category 'B' age group, Chandigarh's Abhijeet Chadha shot a round of 74 to take a one stroke lead over Anish Gupta, while Akash Vats was placed third at 78.

In Category 'C', Kapurthala's Ashbeer S Saini carded a round of four-over 76 to take the lead. He was closely followed by Ankur Chadha and Dhruv Sachdeva who shot six-over 78 and seven-over 79 respectively.

Amanjyot had a good day in office today as he fired three birdies and one bogey in his round. He began his day with a bogey on the par-3 third, but bounced back brilliantly with a birdie on the par-5 fifth to make the turn at even-par. The back nine saw the leader play flawless golf as he recorded a birdie on the par-5 12th and then rounded off the day with a birdie on the par-4 18th.

Abhijeet Chadha played some solid golf for his 74. His round witnessed four birdies on the 5th, 6th, 12th and the 14th holes. He, however, floundered on the back nine to finish at two-over.

Amongst the girls, Vaishavi Sinha emerged the best with a round of 11-over 83.
