11 get life for murder of auditor in Dhanbad
New Delhi, July 4 (UNI) A sessions court in Dhanbad today sentenced eleven people, including four officials of the Bharat coking coal Ltd, to life imprisonment for murdering an auditor in the mining town 24 years ago.
The eighth additional district and session judge, Dhanbad Nagendra Kumar pronounced the sentences on the 11 people while acquitting one, Dina Nath Singh, a release of the Central bureau of investigation said.
While all the 11 have been convicted to life sentence for criminal conspiracy and murder, they have been convicted for abduction in order to murder and given ten years RI and a fine.
The late S S Das, who audited the accounts of the BCL, Dhanbad, was murdered on April 27, 1982 when he detected irregularities in payments and voucher or bills in connection with the supply of sand to the company by a private firm.
After initial investigation by the local police, the case was handed over to CBI in April, 1983 which filed a chargesheet against 15 people on May 29, 1992.
All the accused have been taken into custody and send to jail.
