Zapatero cuts short India visit

New Delhi, July 3 (UNI) Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero today cut short his visit to India in the wake of a train accident in Valencia in which 34 people were killed.

However, his foreign minister and other members of his delegation will continue their stay in India to fulfil their commitments, an official spokesman said here late tonight.

Earlier, Mr Zapatero and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh expressed their shock and grief at the tragedy and expressed condolence to the families of the victims.

At least 34 people were killed when an underground train ran off the tracks in a tunnel and overturned at high speed in the eastern Spanish city of Valencia.
