UP polls on schedule: Mulayam
Kanpur, July 3 (UNI) Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav today reiterated that his government would complete its full term and the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls would be held on time.
Talking to newspersons here, Mr Yadav said the opposition parties were only confusing the masses by predicting mid-term polls.
''These parties are raising such negative opinion against my government, because they are miffed at the rising popularity of the SP regime,'' he said.
Mr Yadav said similar apprehensions were raised by the opposition before the panchayat elections. ''However, the polls were held on time and the SP won majority seats,'' he added.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister informed the previously announced scheme about distribution of saris to poor women, would be implemented only after the 2007 Assembly elections.
''It is not a poll propaganda and the government would fulfill its promises without fail,'' he added.
On the power situation in the industrial city of Kanpur, Mr Yadav assured the situation would improve from September onwards.
