UP orders CID probe in triple murder case
Lucknow, July 3 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh government today ordered a CB-CID probe into the June 27 Meerut incident, in which a student, a police constable and a lawyer were shot dead.
The government ordered a CB-CID probe on the demand of the widow of the slain lawyer, Satveer Singh Mallick, state home secretary R M Srivastava said here this evening.
Yesterday, Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav had announced Rs five lakh ex gratia to the family members of the slain lawyer.
On June 27, Meerut University student Sanjeev Gujjar was shot dead reportedly by Neeraj, Satveer's son.
Later, when police arrived at his residence, Satveer opened fire on the cops killing a constable, Praveen Giri.
The police retaliated and gunned down Satveer.
Neeraj and his accomplice Nitin were arrested from the studio of a news channel, the next day.
Lawyers of Meerut went on strike against the ''police atrocities'' and on the demand of the lawyer's wife, an FIR was lodged against the erring policemen.
