Ultra killed, two soldiers among 3 wounded in Kashmir gunfight
Srinagar, July 3 (UNI) A militant was killed while two soldiers and a civilian were wounded in a fierce gun-battle between security forces and militants near the Gupt Ganga temple at Ishber, about one km from the Nishat Mughal Gardens, on the city outskirts this evening, an Army spokesman said.
He said the encounter erupted between the militants and troops of 28 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and personnel of 112 battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) late this evening.
The spokesman said a militant was killed while two soldiers and a civilian injured in the ongoing gunfight.
Giving details, CRPF spokesman Dalip Singh Ambesh said the personnel of the 112 battalion posted in the Gupt Ganga temple heard few gunshots from the forest area of Ishber, about 13 km from here.
As the CRPF personnel retaliated, the troops of 28 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) posted in the area also laid a cordon, Mr Ambesh added.
He said the area has been cordoned from all the sides and a heavy gunfire ensued.
However, Mr Ambesh said the gunfight has stopped due to the darkness. Two-three militants were believed to be hiding in the forest area, he added.
Meanwhile, two fire brigades have been deployed in the area in case of any emergency.
