Chennai, July 3 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Police is conducting a probe to ascertain whether the Sri Lankan national, who was recently arrested in Kerala for possessing a forged passport, has links with any militant organisation, the office of the state Director General of Police said today.

In a release here, the DGP's office referred to a report in a Tamil daily that Udayasankar, a Lankan national arrested by Immigration Authorities at Nedumbassery Airport in Ernakulam on June 23 while attempting to board a flight to Dubai en route to London, had confessed to staying on the outskirts of Chennai city before the Assembly elections.

Investigation revealed that Udaysankar left Colombo Airport after he was cleared by the Immigration authorities there and arrived at the Chennai Airport.

The Kerala police took him into custody and brought him to Chennai for further investigation, the DGP office said while adding the state police also conducted a probe.

Enquiries were on to trace the person who had arranged the forged passport. Though investigation so far did not disclose his association with any militant organisation, vigorous inquiries were on to verify any such possible links, the release said.
