SGPC to honour Maan boycott directive

Moga, July 3 (UNI) The Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandik Committee (SGPC) will honour the directive issued by the Akal Takht Jathedar Joginder Singh Vidanti calling for a 'boycott' of Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) chief Simranjit Singh Maan.

''The SGPC will not permit Maan or his party functionaries to organise or address religious functions in shrines under its jurisdiction'', SGPC president Avtar Singh Makar today said.

Addressing mediapersons here, he called upon all 'panthic' organisations to honour the directive of the Sikh clergy.By indulging in hoolganism inside the Golden Temple complex, Maan and his supporters had hurt the sentiments of the Sikh community, he added.

The Jathedar issued the directive after supporters of Maan clashed with SAD (Badal) activists and SGPC officals inside the Golden Temple complex yesterday during the 400th foundation day celebrations of the Akal Takht.
