Rs 36 lakh released for village stadia

Chandigarh, July 3 (UNI) The Punjab Sports Department has chalked out a comprehensive plan to provide basic requirments for promotion of sports in villages.

Announcing this here today, Sports Director Pargat Singh said the state government had released Rs 36 lakh for 12 villages of different districts.

Each village would receive Rs three lakh under the Punjab Nirman Programme Scheme for stadia in villages. This scheme was part of the Punjab State Sports Council.

Financial grants would be provided to Bhikiwindi (Amritsar), Jandiala (Bathinda), Sirhind Mandi (Fatehgarh Sahib), Guru Harsahaya (Ferozepur), Ghorewah (Gurdaspur), Phagwara (Kapurthala), Takhra (Ludhiana), Kishangarh Farwahi (Mansa), Dhudike (Moga), Kharar (Mohali), Derabassi (Patiala) and Balra (Sangrur).
