Power tariffs to go down in HP
Shimla, July 3 (UNI) The power tariffs will go down by 10 to 35 paise per unit for domestic consumers, by 15 paise for small and medium industrial units and by ten paise for big industry, according to the new tariff order for this financial year announced by the State Electricity Regularity Commission today.
The order passed by Commission Chairman Yogesh Khanna also provided for reduction in energy charges for pre-paid meter consumers and lowering of tariff for students living in hostels, orphanage, charitable institutions, agriculture, horticulture, pisciculture, floriculture and agriculture.
The tariff slabs for domestic category have been rationalised and reduced from three to two.
However, the tariff for families below poverty line (BPL), consuming electricity up to 45 units, would go up by ten paise from Rs 1.55 per unit to maintain the level of 50 per cent cost of supply, in line with the national electricity policy.
