One fisherman killed, two untraced as Fishing boat capsizes

Kendrapada, July 3 (UNI) One fisherman drowned while two others were missing as a mechanised fishing trawler ''Sagar Prem'', caught in the deep depression, capsized in the mid sea between Puri and Paradip yesterday.

Police said the mechanised boat with ten fishermen on board was returning from Puri to Paradip when it capsized in the mid sea following a depression over north Bay of Bengal.

While seven fishermen managed to swim ashore, one D.Sachum was drowned in the mid sea. His body was recovered from the Paradip coast this morning and sent for post mortem.

According to one Sadhu Charan Sahu, the owner of the fishing boat, who lodged a FIR with the Paradip Police station, two fishermen still remain untraced after the mishap. All the fishermen belonged to Kakinada region.

The authority has launched a rescue operation to trace the two missing fishermen.
