NLC employees to go on indefinite strike from tomorrow night
New Delhi, July 3 (UNI) Employees of the Neyveli Lignite Corp (NLC), India's largest lignite mining and lignite-based power generating company, are proceeding on an indefinite strike, commencing from the night shift tomorrow.
''The recognised union of the workers and Association of Engineers and Officer have intended to proceed on indefinite strike, commencing from the night shift of July 4, 2006, protesting against the Central Government's decision to disinvest 10 per cent of Equity shares of the Company,'' a company statement said.
NLC, which operates the largest open-cast lignite mine in the country, produces 24 metric tonnes of lignite and 2,490 MW electricity, per annum.
