Kalyani, July 3 (UNI) A 34-year-old electrical mechanic, who fell off a 30-foot electric post and sustained 100 per cent burn injuries after being struck by an 11,000 volt high tension wire at a puja pandal last October, has grown a new skull.

Since the last eight months Sambhu Roy has been receiving treatment under the supervision of Dr Ratanlal Banerjee at the Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital here in Nadia district.

Hospital Superintendent Nirupam Biswas told UNI that a new skull began growing separating the old one. ''Today Roy began walking around with the old skull bones which still had parts of skin attached to it. We do not have such a precedent,'' Dr Biswas said.

His miraculous progress has not only amazed his family but also the doctors at the hospital, who claimed that they had not encountered anything like this.

To everyone's surprise, the man not only walks but also talks.

And all this after the skull was separated from the head and a new skull was under formation. Besides, his damaged fingers have started growing.

Dr Biswas said, ''We are happy to see him recovering well. But at the same time we have not encountered such a bizzare incident.'' The hospital authorities were trying to get a CT scan done from elsewhere as the hospital lacks a CT scan machine.
