IMC launches its Centenary year Celebration
Mumbai, July 3 (UNI) As Indian Merchants' Chamber (IMC), India's Premier Chamber of Commerce and Industry,enters its centenary year, it promises to usher a renaissance for the Indian business.The Agenda for this transformation at IMC is to provide an international platform for the "New Global Indian Business" and help them make a mark on the world arena, by bridging the gaps of globalization.
As part of this agenda, to drive the renaissance for a truly global Indian business and to celebrate its hundred years of existence, the Chamber has planned a series of prestigious events to be formally inaugurated by President of India Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam on July 18th 2006.
IMP present young president Mr Nayan Patel told mediapersons that Mr Deepak Parekh,Chairman HDFC will Chair the Centenary Year Celebrations Committee. His new role at IMC is to create the blueprint for the centenary year celebrations and oversee the proceedings as IMC undergoes a historic transformation to keep up to its increasing relevance to the New Global Indian Business." Commenting on his new role, Mr Deepak Parekh said," I plede my support to the young president of IMC Nayan Patel and his team in realizing their dream of ushering in a renaissance to create a global platform for "Global Indian Business"to Bride the Gaps of Globalization. I am honoured to have been awarded this responsibility." Mr Viren J Shah former Governor of West Bengal and Trustee of IMC taoked about the socio-economic influence the Chamber has made to society. IMC formed on September 7th 1907, contributed immensely to creating the architecture for India's financial independence and still plays an active role in the development Indian Trade,Commerce and Industry.its significance could be judged by the fact that Mahatam Gandhi, the Father of the Nation too was honorary member of the Chamber.
The 100th foundation Day Celebration, IMC will release of Commemorative Stamp at hands of Mr Dayanidhi Maran, Union Minister for Communications and IT on September 7, 2006.
