New Delhi, July 3 (UNI) The Union Home Ministry today moved an application in the Supreme Court seeking permission to raise the height of the wall by about eight feet around ''Garbh Grah'' (Sanctum Sanctoreum) at the Ram Janam Bhoomi complex in Ayodhya.

The apex court had ordered status quo at Ram Janam Bhoomi since the demolition of Babri Masjid in December 1992.

No construction can take place at the site without the prior permission of the court in view of the restraint order which is still operative.

Increased threat perception to the make shift Ram temple has propmted the Centre to approach the court for seeking green signal.

It may be noted here that militants had attempted to attack the Ram Janam Bhoomi complex last year.

Several other religious places including Akshardham in Gujarat and Raghunath Mandir in Jammu have also been attacked in the past.
