Govt moves SC for strengthening security at Ram temple in Ayodhya

New Delhi, July 3 (UNI) The Centre has moved an application in the Supreme Court, seeking permission to take some ad hoc measures to strengthen security at the Ram Janambhoomi temple in Ayodhya in the wake of the terrorist attack on the shrine last year.

The Home Ministry had filed an application in the Supreme Court on May 17, detailing some of the ''ad hoc'' measures needed to be taken to ensure foolproof security to the temple. The government plans to spend Rs 7.23 crore on these security measures.

The measures included a temporary bulletproof steel structure on the four sides of the Ramlala, wooden roof and internal walls. A double wall of steel behind the structure filled with mud will also be installed at the temple.

Moreover, close circuit TV has to be fitted, bunkers built and barricades would also be provided to the temple.
