Four Maoists killed in police encounter in Orissa
Sambalpur, July 3 (UNI) Four Maoists were killed in an encounter with the Deogarh police inside Laimura forest this afternoon.
Police said the encounter took place during the combing operation inside the Laimura forest, 45 km from the Deogarh district headquarters.
During the encounter, police also seized arms and ammunition from the Maoists.
Two policemen were injured during the operation, which lasted for few hours.
Since all the senior police officers including Deogarh Superintendent of Police S Pravin Kumar were present at the combing site. The police force, sources said, were finding it difficult to continue the operation in the forest close to Laimura following incessant rains.
The Deogarh police earlier on April 18 last shot dead three Maoists near Riamal forest during an encounter.
