Congress leader injured by party rivals

Tirupati, Jul 3 (UNI) A Congress leader was seriously injured following an attack by the son of former local legisltor near here last night.

Police today said C Subramanyam Reddy was attacked by Devanarayana Reddy, son of the MLA and his supporters at the tourist busstand when he was returning to his house after participating in the election yesterday.

The condition of Subramanyam, admitted to the Government Ruia hospital, was stated to be serious.

Political rivalry was stated to be reason for the attack,police said.

Meanwhile, supporters of the Subramanyam led by his wife Nirmala took out a procession and resorted to a rasta roko on the busy Tiruchanoor-Renigunta bypass road affecting vehicular traffic for an hour.
