BSF shot dead Bangladeshi infiltrator, BDR's firing at Indian Post

Balurghat, West Bengal, Jul 3 (UNI) Tension excalated at Sanapara, border village of this North Bengal district, after BDR jawans today opened fire to protest killing of a Bangladeshi national by BSF for trespassing into Indian territory, police said.

BSF shot dead a Bangladeshi infiltrator among three trespassers, who defied the Indian guards at Chingispur border post last night.

Two others, however, fled back to their country. The dead was identified as Md Nur Jamai (38) of Noga district of Bangladesh.

In protest, Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) personnel fired several shots at the Indian post early this morning, forcing the BSF to retaliate, the police said.

However, there had been no report of any casualty in the firing.

Police said the situation, although, was tense but under control.
