Bhappu arrested for second time in PMT scam
Fatehgarh Sahib, July 3 (UNI) Sirhind-based poultry farm owner Devinder Singh Bhappu has been arrested for the second time for his alleged involvement in PMT paper leak case.
Bhappu, one of the eight accused arrested in the PMT paper leak case in Chandigarh, was earlier arrested in April, 2003 by Amritsar police in connection with CBSE PMT admission racket. He was then a rice miller.
He was then arrested along with his associate S K Bawa, the owner of a PMT coaching institute, on April 19, 2003, from a hotel when they were setting the deals with the aspirants for the seats in the medical colleges. Bhappu was later released on bail.
This time, Bhappu was part of a five-member inter-state gang recently arrested by Chandigarh police for their alleged involvement in leaking the question paper of the Punjab Pre-Medical Entrance Test (PMT).
Bhappu is an active member of Shiromani Akali Dal led by former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal.
It was often claimed from the political stages in Fatehgarh Sahib that it was Bhappu who had driven a truck to New Delhi with Parkash Singh Badal to burn the copies of Section 25 of the Constitution during the Akali agitation.
