National Akali Dal demands CM's resignation on price rise
New Delhi, July 2 (UNI) The National Akali today demanded Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit's resignation, alleging that the Delhi Government had failed to check the spiralling prices of essential commodities.
National Akali Dal workers held protests against the issue here and sold pulses for Rs 20 per kg.
Party president Paramjeet Singh alleged that Ms Dikshit had failed to check price rise and the common man was suffering.
''The policies of the Sheila Dikshit government are anti-poor and the decision of selling pulses at controlled rate was just an eyewash,'' he added.
He alleged that the Government was backing hoarders.
On June 30, the Delhi government announced that two popular varieties of pulses,-- 'Urad Dhuli' and 'Moong Dhuli'-- which were selling at more than Rs 50 per kg in the market, will be sold at controlled price of Rs 38 a kg from Tuesday.
On June 23, the state government had decided to sell tomatoes at a 'controlled' price of Rs 20 a kg from June 24, in order to check its spiralling prices and provide relief to the common man.
