Maximum recorded at 37 degrees Celsius in capital

New Delhi, Jul 1 (UNI) As Delhi awaits its first monsoon rains, the maximum temperature today rose to 37 degrees Celsius with the relative humidity remaining at 86 per cent.

A Meteorological Department official said the conditions are expected to prevail over the next 24 hours.

He said the conditions are favourable for further advance of southwest monsoon into some more parts of northwest India, including Delhi, during the next 48 hours.

The minimum was recorded at 25.4 degrees Celsius, which is three degrees below normal.

Generally cloudy sky with rains or thundershowers in some areas are forecast for the next 24 hours. The maximum temperature is expected to remain around 37 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, the Southwest monsoon has further advanced into remaining parts of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, some more parts of West Uttar Pradesh, remaining parts of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir and some parts of Punjab and Haryana including Chandigarh.

The northern limit of monsoon passes through Udaipur, Gwalior, Barielly, Dehradun, Ambala and Amritsar, the Met officials said.
