Lack of professional ethics among journos cause for concern
Bangalore, July 1 (UNI) Former Karnataka Information Minister B K Chandrashekar today opined that the image of journalists had suffered a dent as some of them did not adhere to professional ethics.
Speaking at the Media Day celebrations here, he said majority of the people in general and politicians in particular were cynical about the attitude of the media community.
He lamented that news reporting had lost its objectivity following a section of mediapersons receiving patronage from people in power. ''Of late a bad trend of reporters grouping together on caste basis is setting in,'' he rued.
Prof Chandrashekhar said reporters could take up investigative journalism, rather than sting operations, to break a news story as the latter encroached upon the privacy of a person.
The programme was organised by the state Information Department and Karnataka Media Academy. Lectures were also delivered on various aspects of journalism on the occasion.
