Fred Trueman dies of lung cancer
London, July 1 (UNI) Former England and Yorkshire pacer Fred Trueman died of lung cancer at the age of 75.
Trueman, who was diagnosed with lung cancer in May and was undergoing treatment, died after battling the diesease for close to two months, a BBC Sport report today said here.
The speedster, who was nicknamed ''Fiery Red'' was the first to take 300 Test wickets and added seven more to the tally before retiring after playing 67 matches.
He played for Yorkshire for 20 years and appeared in 603 matches taking over 2,000 wickets for the county club. He later worked as a commentator for the BBC till 2000.
The pacer was awarded an OBE in 1989 for his charity work.
