US Chamber of Commerce hails vote on US-India Civilian nuke deal
WASHINGTON, June 30 (UNI) The US Chamber of Commerce applauded approval of the US-India civilian nuclear agreement by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
''The Senate today moved to align the world's two great democracies for the twenty-first century,'' said Lt Gen (Ret) Daniel W Christman, Chairman of the Coalition for Partnership with India and senior vice president for International Affairs at the Chamber.
''This initiative will create lucrative opportunities for US industry, create high quality jobs for American workers, and lay the foundation for vast downstream opportunities in every sector of US business.'' Through the Coalition for Partnership with India, the US Chamber of Commerce and the US-India Business Council have vigorously promoted the US-India civilian nuclear initiative.
The US Chamber is the world's largest business federation, representing more than 3 million businesses and organisations of every size, sector, and region. The USIBC represents the largest US investors and traders with India.
