Indian Army bids farewell to Lt Gen Singh

Shillong, Jun 30: Director General of Assam Rifles (DGAR) Lt Gen Bhopinder Singh will retire today after dedicating 41 years of service to Indian army.

Assam Rifles, in a release, said here today the Lt Gen Singh was commissioned in DOGRA Regiment in June 1965 and commanded 12 Dogra Regiment. He also took part in 1965 and 1971 Indo-Pak wars.

He was a part of counter insurgency operations in Jammu and Kashmir as a Mountain Brigade Commander and was awarded Ati Vishist Seva Medal, the statement said.

A graduate of Defence Services Staff College and Master of Science in Defence Studies, he did his M Phil from the National Defence College.
