New Delhi, June 30 (UNI) The Delhi University's second cut-off list, which has recorded a marginal decrease in most of the courses, did not bring much cheer to prospective admission seekers.

Even those students, who have scored a high of 90 per cent, could not secure a seat for themselves in arts or commerce courses of prestigious colleges.

With the first cut-off list registering an increase of about two per cent in most subjects, students had pinned their hope on the second list to get into their preferred courses.

It turned out to be yet another disappointing day for a lot of candidates as they either missed the cut-off or colleges did not come out with the second list in many courses.

While SRCC remained the only college which did not come out with the second list, several colleges did not announce the second list in many courses and are following the first merit list to fill the seats.

The colleges include Jesus and Mary which has kept admissions open in popular courses-- Economics (H), B Com (H) and English (H), Maitreyi College which will continue to admit students for Mathematics (H) and LSR for the BA programme.

''I was looking forward to the second list... If this is the trend then why this entire process of second list which provides no hope to the students,'' said a disappointed Saumya Nath.

''With 80 per cent marks I could not get Economic Honours in JMC... I can not figure out what to do. Whether to opt for another subject or college,'' she added.

Facing a similar situation was Gaurav Kapoor, who scored 88 per cent and wanted to get in B Com (Hons) course.

''The second list has turned out to be a disappointment... I had scored well but that is all a waste now,'' said a dejected Gaurav.

In Hans Raj College, the cut off for BA course is 77-85 per cent, in Gargi it is 77.5-79 and in Deshbandhu it is 66 per cent.

In Hans Raj the cut-off for English Hons is 86 per cent and admissions are over in Sri Venkateswara, ARSD, IP College, Kirori Mal, and Moti Lal Nehru (evening).

In Sri Venkateswara the cut-off for B.Com is 89 per cent, 84-86 in Ram Lal Anand, 83 in Satyawati Co-ed and 80 in SGND Khalsa, while admissions are closed in Daulat Ram.

Admission to B.Com (Hons) is over in many colleges with the rest showing a dip of about one to two percent.
