MCOCA court remands LeT operative to police custody till July 10
Mumbai, June 28 (UNI) The Anti-Terrorist Squad of the Mumbai police arrested one more suspected Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) activist from Manmad in Nashik last night in connection with the seizure of large quantity of arms and ammunition from Aurangabad last month.
Abdul Samad Shamsher Khan (24), 15th person arrested in this connection, have been produced before the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime act (MCOCA) judge Mridula Bhatkar this afternoon.
The court sent him to police custody till July ten.
Police sources said that the arrested person had visited Bangladesh recently to collect money from one Ansari who is an accused in this case.
The ATS, in a joint operation with the Aurangabad police on May nine, had arrested one Mohd Amir Shakil Ahmed and the next day nabbed two other terrorists including an activist of the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) from near the Ghrushneshwar temple at Verul village and seized arms and ammunition from them.
On the basis of the information collected from the trio, ATS arrested ten more persons from Aurangabad and seized 16 AK-47, 43 kg RDX, 4000 ammunition rounds and 50 hand grenades during the operation.
Suspected LeT operative Afroz Khan, involved in the conspiracy to transport explosives, surrendered before this court on June 13.
With the arrest of Shamsher Khan, the total number of arrest in this case had gone upto 15.
