Fake Indian currency seized in Kathmandu
Kathmandu, June 28 (UNI) A bag with over half-a-million counterfeit Indian currency was seized at Nepal's international airport today, media reports said.
The Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) security officials seized a bag with counterfeit Indian currency worth Rs 5.9 million, Kantipur said quoting security official.
Two bags with fake Indian currency were held from a Thai Airways airplane, it quoted police official at the airport as saying.
''The fake cash was false buttoned to the bags,'' the police said.
''The suitcase is under the name of Jeevan Khadka of New Road in Kathmandu,'' police said, who has not yet been contacted.
The Criminal Investigation branch of the police has started a search for Mr Khadka, it is said.
This is the biggest amount of counterfeit notes found at the airport in Nepal.
