Hearing on Salem's plea adjourned till July 7

Mumbai, Jun 28: The Special MCOCA court today adjourned till July 7, the hearing on a plea filed by extradited gangster Abu Salem alleging that Mumbai Police have violated the extradition treaty.

Defence Advocate Ashok Sarogi's junior today sought time for arguement on the grounds that counsel Nitin Pradhan was not feeling well.

MCOCA (Maharashtra Control for Organised Crime Act) Judge Abhay Thipsay granted time and adjourned the hearing till July seven.

Salem's advocate Ashok Sarogi had moved an application stating that Mumbai police has violated the agreement signed between Portugal and India at the time of extradition.

He stated in the application that Indian Government had brought his client here for conducting trial in eight cases only. Now Mumbai police is interrogating him in some other cases which were not mentioned in agreement signed between Portugal and Indian Government.

The major cases against Salem includes the 1993 serial bomb blasts in which hundreds of people were killed and several hundreds injured.

He was also booked in the murder cases of Pradeep Jain, builder and Ajit Diwani, private secretary of Bollywood actress Manisha Koirala.
